Garret Archer is looking to close his excellent rookie season in the Spears Southwest Tour on a high note at The Bullring in Las Vegas this Saturday night. After engine troubles left him with limited horsepower and a disappointing 17th place finish in the last contest at Kern County Raceway Park, Archer is ready to go full speed ahead in Las Vegas.
This will be Garret’s second race on The Bullring’s ½ mile asphalt oval, where he placed fourth in his previous outing in May. With a few more races under his belt since then, he is aiming to take this final opportunity for a second Southwest Tour top three finish to move him up in the points standing. At #1 and #2, Derek Thorn and Jeremy Doss have commanding points leads that put them out of reach, but from his current sixth position Archer is still within shooting distance of a third place overall finish if the race plays out to his advantage. In his sights are Brandon White, Jacob Gomes, and NTS Motorsports teammate Greg Voigt. The competition is strong, but Archer’s growth as a driver this season insures that he will be running with the leaders until the checkered flag drops.
Regardless of the outcome of this race, Archer has clinched the Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series Rookie of the Year title. Backed by the talented NTS Motorsports team, he will also be one of the ten Series drivers to have competed at every SRL race this season, a testament to the hard work of the NTS crew and to Garret’s commitment to achieving his goal of a career in stock car racing.
Saturday promises to be clear and cool in Las Vegas, bringing good track conditions and fast lap times. With MAVTV on hand to televise the event, Garret Archer will be putting everything he has into this final race of the season, which is sure to be exciting right to the finish.
